Cirrhosis

Cirrhosis is the name given to the condition that affects an organ, tissue formed by transforming their original cells in fibrous tissue, usually by a process called fibrosis or sclerosis. Cirrhosis is the term generally used to describe liver fibrosis.
Causes
Despite the popular belief that cirrhosis is a disease of alcoholics, all diseases that lead to chronic liver inflammation (chronic liver disease) may develop this disease:
• Autoimmune hepatitis
• Liver injury induced by drugs or toxins
• alcohol-induced liver injury
• Viral Hepatitis B, C and D
• Metabolic diseases
• Alpha-1-antitrypsin
• Wilson's disease
• Hemochromatosis
• Vascular disorders
• Right heart failure chronic
• Budd-Chiari
• Biliary Cirrhosis
• Primary biliary cirrhosis
• biliary cirrhosis secondary to chronic obstruction
• Primary sclerosing cholangitis
• Biliary Atresia
• Severe congenital intrahepatic ducts (Alagille Syndrome)
• Cirrhosis cryptogenic (unknown cause)
Treatment

The only fully effective treatment for patients with liver cirrhosis liver transplantation, but can also be improved if the offending agent is suspended giving rise to cirrhosis, such as alcohol or hepatitis virus. Since the transplant is indicated only in situations where the risks of the procedure is less than expected without the risk procedure if there is no indication transplant must remain periodic medical care for the early detection of complications such as malnutrition, ascites, esophageal varices gastric, hepatocellular, proceeding to intervene if necessary.
