Brugada Syndrome

It is a serious heart condition marked by abnormal rhythm which can result in sudden cardiac failure. The problem stems from the ventricles of the heart, where uncoordinated electrical activity occurs.
Treatment
The primary aim of treatment is to eliminate the arrhythmia, which leads to a fatal consequence. The heart rhythm disorder is a condition unique to that medicines are not available. The only way that can help reduce the chances of sudden cardiac death is an automatic defibrillator. The device is essentially a battery-powered generator short electrical pulse which must be implanted in patients affected similar to a pacemaker. ICD constantly monitors the rate and rhythm of the heart, and in the case of an arrhythmia is detected, it corrects the condition by delivering a jolt of electricity. Tachycardia or fast heart rate is a precursor of ventricular fibrillation that needs to be done to prevent cardiac arrest. Advanced forms of ICD are installed with various features that can prevent tachycardia progressing to ventricular fibrillation. ICD implantation can often generate shocks.

Patients can carry the risk of coronary artery disease need to undergo an angiogram before ICD implantation. Therefore, the device should be programmed such that it is highly compatible with patients. Quinidine, the Class 1 antiarrhythmic pharmacological agent, may help prevent the development of ventricular fibrillation by increasing the duration of the action potential.
Prevention

Affected individuals should avoid taking sodium channel blockers, anti-depressants, anti-arrhythmic agents that these can easily trigger ventricular fibrillation. The use of acetaminophen / Tylenol syndrome can also result in some patients. Any form of vigorous physical activity should be avoided to prevent episodes of abnormal heart rhythm and ventricular contraction.
