Malaria

Like Dengue, Malaria is also transmitted by mosquitoes and is easily spread. The mosquito is Anopheles Darling and is quite abundant in northern Brazil. It's a disease that if not discovered in time may lead the individual to death as it did in many cases.
Treatment
Active infection of malaria by P. falciparum is a medical emergency requiring hospitalization. Already infections by P. vivax, P. ovale or P. malariae can often be treated without hospitalization. The treatment of malaria involves supportive measures as anti-malarial drugs. With appropriate treatment one can expect complete recovery of the disease.
Prevention
The methods used to prevent the spread of malaria or protect people in endemic areas include: mosquito eradication, prophylactic drugs, and prevention of mosquito bites. Malaria transmission can be reduced to preventing mosquito bites with mosquito nets and repellents, as well as controlling the proliferation of mosquitoes with insecticides and draining standing water where they lay their eggs.
