Cardiovascular Disease


CVD (cardio vascular = * = heart blood vessels, including arteries, veins and capillaries) are diseases that affect the circulatory system, or blood vessels and the heart. There are several types of cardiovascular diseases (myocardial infarction, arrhythmia). Among the most common we refer myocardial infarction, angina pectoris, atherosclerosis, among others.
To prevent the onset of these diseases must:
• Do Bodily fitness,
• Do not overdo the spices in the food,
• not smoking and not drinking excessively,
• controlling infections that may be anywhere on the body.
Among the main causes include a sedentary lifestyle, excessive consumption of foods high in fat and salt, alcohol (although studies show a beneficial effect on moderate consumption of alcohol) and tobacco. Consequently, the best prevention is to get exercise, eat a balanced diet rich in fruits and vegetables and not smoking.
Cardiovascular diseases are the leading cause of death in Portugal.
