Foodborne illness


Foodborne illness, commonly known as foodborne, are caused by ingestion of contaminated food or drink. There are over 250 types of foodborne and most infections are caused by bacteria and their toxins, viruses and parasites. Other diseases are poisonings caused by natural toxins (poisonous mushrooms, fish and algal toxins) or harmful chemicals that contaminated food (lead, pesticides).
