Hypertension
Twenty percent of the elderly population have hypertension. Heredity, smoking, obesity, stress, excessive salt, alcohol and other factors predispose to the disease. Maximum pressure (systolic) equal to 140 mm Hg and minimum (diastolic) equal to 90 mm Hg are considered normal. The pressure can vary during the day. If you're already hypertensive, do not discontinue your medication because you are not feeling anything.
