Mediterranean Diet
The typical diet of the region bounded by the Mediterranean Sea, it is renowned for its benefits to the heart. It increases the level of good cholesterol (HDL) and lower rates of bad cholesterol (LDL) in the blood, while preventing the clogging of arteries. Among the main characteristics of this diet include low red meat intake, intake of fruits, nuts and cereals, high consumption of fish, moderate consumption of wine and olive oil as a source of healthy fat. In addition, omega-3 fish contain recognized as a nutrient cardioprotective, i.e. cardiovascular health benefits.
