Myth: Forcing
the child to read aloud in the classroom makes her lose her shyness and fear of
speaking.
Reality: Shyness
and fear do not cause stuttering. So is the unfounded belief that, if the child
fails to stop being shy or afraid to speak, stuttering disappears. In fact,
shyness and fear of speaking can be consequences of stuttering: the child may
be afraid to speak up because you think you can not stutter, but because they
know it will stutter because he also knows that he can not prevent the
occurrence of stuttering, and often, believing that it should be able to do
something not to stutter. On the other hand, fear can actually aggravate
stuttering. Thus, forcing the child to read aloud in the classroom will only
help to make the problem worse. In legal terms, forcing the student with
stuttering reading aloud or present seminars is very serious indeed justifying
the opening of the legal process because of embarrassment generated by
situations.
