Reality: When auditory feedback is altered, speech is no longer automatically processed by the brain. In these cases, the cerebellum comes into play, because it becomes necessary to extract acoustic cues of external sound for temporalize speech. It is the same effect that occurs with reading in chorus and speak with the rhythm of a metronome, which also improve stuttering of many people.
