Smokers who have smoked for a long
time and stopped reported more vivid dreams than they would normally have. In
addition, according to the Journal of Abnormal Psychology "among 293
smokers who abstained between one and four weeks, 33% said they had at least
one dream about smoking. Most people dream flagravam smoking and felt strong
negative emotions such as panic and guilt. Dreams about smoking were the result
of the fact of withdrawal to smoking because 97% of the volunteers did not have
them while smoking, and their occurrence was significantly related to the
period of abstinence. They were reported as more vivid than normal dreams and
are as common as the major tobacco withdrawal symptoms. "
