Tuberculosis is an infectious disease
caused by a bacterium that affects the lungs, but can also occur in other
organs of the body such as bones, kidneys and meninges (membranes surrounding
the brain).
Prevention
To prevent tuberculosis is necessary
to immunize children with BCG. Seropositive children or newborns who show signs
or symptoms of AIDS should not receive the vaccine. Prevention includes
avoiding crowds, especially indoors, and do not use objects contaminated
people.
Treatment
Tuberculosis treatment using
antibiotics is 100% effective, however, there can be abandoned. Tuberculosis
cure takes six months, but the patient often does not receive appropriate
clarification and gives up ahead of time. To avoid abandonment of treatment is
important that the patient be accompanied by teams of physicians, nurses,
social workers and visitors properly prepared.
