Geographic Bicho

Geographic Bicho is the popular name given to the parasitic nematode Ancylostoma caninum Ancylostoma brasiliense or causing a condition called cutaneous larva migrans. It is so named because the larvae penetrate the dermis and migrate through the subcutaneous tissue or visceral leaving their tracks by the body. This parasite is common in dogs and cats due to very close contact with domestic animals, can be installed in man and can not complete its cycle by being in an abnormal host.
The cutaneous larva migrans can be also called dermatitis or serpiginous dermatitis and itchy. It often occurs in tropical and subtropical regions, and mainly affect areas of the body that have contact with the ground, as the feet, legs, thighs, hands, buttocks and forearms, causing excessive itching; rarely mouth, lips and palate are achieved.
Contact with soil contaminated by feces of dogs and cats is how one acquires the animal geography. On the ground, the eggs present in the feces, under good conditions of humidity, temperature and oxygenation, turn into larvae that will penetrate the skin and cause disease in humans. In dogs and cats, the infection occurs either by oral, dermal or the placenta.
Treatment
You need to find a doctor who will prescribe oral or topical medication, and avoid the sun until the lesions disappear.
Prevention
Whenever possible, circulate the beach slippers. If you walk on the sand or in the water barefoot, then wash the feet with fresh water, preferably cold. Great care also time to sit or lie down to sunbathe: use a clean towel or even the yoke to avoid direct contact with grass or sand. Moreover, it is worth the good sense not to bring pets to the beach.
