Salmonellosis

Salmonellosis is an infection caused by bacteria feeding Salmonella enterica. Cause severe diarrhea and other abdominal symptoms. Typhoid fever is a disease related but caused by different subspecies.
Treatment
The mild cases lasting between 1-4 days and can be treated at home. It is essential hydration. Regarding the diet, is recommended feeding a pause until the intestine tolerate the food; then slowly are being reintroduced into the food, avoiding those which may worsen diarrhea (milk, fat, fiber, etc). A slightly warm environment can help relieve abdominal cramps and rest is important. Typically antibiotics are not needed for the treatment of food poisoning caused by Salmonella. In case of dehydration can be no recourse to the hospital for hydration by vein. This is often decided after the analysis. Some more serious situations, usually observed in people weakened by other diseases, may require treatment with antibiotics.
Prevention
Must wash hands thoroughly before handling food and after defecation. Avoid poorly cooked food, cooked food based on raw eggs and raw salads badly washed. It should also avoid foods with many hours of preparation and poorly packaged. There are many precautions, such as: keep food refrigerated, wash hands before preparing food, avoid meat and raw eggs, buy meat or preferably vacuum butchers in confidence, avoid mixing different meats in the same recipe.
