Stuttering


Myth: Nervousness, anxiety, insecurity, shyness and low self-esteem cause stuttering.
Reality: Psychological factors do not cause stuttering, but may aggravate it. Moreover, it is also incorrect to assume that people who stutter are more likely to be nervous, fearful, anxious, shy or have low self-esteem. Some people who stutter may exhibit anxiety, insecurity, shyness and / or low self-esteem to speak, but these characteristics tend to be communicative consequences of frustrating experiences and not related to stuttering causes of stuttering.
